Celebrations erupted in Mission Control, with broad smiles and cigar smoke marking the successful conclusion. But, while Mission control was celebrating, it was not yet known that the crew had been exposed to toxic fumes during descent. The crew was coughing and Brand lost consciousness.
Thanks for the memories! Those were exciting times. I wish the very best for you, Mike, and Mrs. SRH.
Thanks Mark, Glad you enjoyed the podcast.
Excellent podcast, as always. One correction: the photo you have for the ASTP CM splashdown
is of either Apollo 11 or 12, as the astronauts on the rafts are wearing the BIG suits used on those missions. The ASTP crew were lifted aboard the recovery carrier still inside the CM, and walked out. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the heads up. I will try to get that fixed when I get a chance.
